Lin Ruiqun, born into a family specializing in wood carving craftsmanship, is the fifth-generation inheritor of the Lin family. From a young age, he apprenticed under his father, Mr. Lin Qingcai, a master of Chinese arts and crafts, to study Chinese traditional culture and traditional handicrafts. While continuing the essence of tradition and adhering to the traditional mortise and tenon structure of furniture, over the past decade, he has repeatedly studied and contemplated Chinese-style furniture, shaping Chinese lifestyle aesthetics with a humanistic demand and a contemporary aesthetic perspective.
From tradition to modernity, from inheritance to innovation, Lin Ruiqun has always been committed to reviving and promoting traditional Chinese handicrafts and Chinese culture. With Chinese-style furniture as the cultural tone, he extends a Chinese lifestyle imbued with oriental humanistic feelings. Through nearly two decades of accumulated traditional skills and design concepts, Lin Ruiqun's works have been collected by several museums and individuals from various sectors of society. He has been invited to collaborate with major auction houses multiple times and has become a furniture designer affiliated with Beijing Poly International Auction. He is also the first furniture designer to win the Golden Award of the China Arts and Crafts Hundred Flowers Award for five consecutive terms.
In 2012, Lin Ruiqun's work "Yaohuang Weizi" made its debut at an auction and sold for 1.1 million RMB, which was hailed by experts and scholars as a "new contribution to the development of classical craft furniture art and a masterpiece of the Xianzuo school." In 2013, Lin Ruiqun's work "Enamelled Filigree Inlaid Mud Circle Chair" was widely sought after by numerous collectors and imitated by peers as soon as it was introduced. Subsequently, other furniture works designed and developed by Lin Ruiqun also received extensive attention from various sectors of society and served as a reference for his peers.
